As I begin my tenure here at Sam Brannan Middle School, I want to welcome all of you to the 2015-2016 school year! I hope all of you had a terrific summer filled with family, fun and rest. I thought I would begin by sharing my short Biography. As a teacher, I taught at both the elementary and middle school level, 5th grade and 7th grade math/science respectively. . As an administrator, I started in this District thirteen years ago as a middle school vice principal. Honestly one of the best times in my life. Following my five years as a middle school vice principal, I accepted a position as an elementary school principal in our district and served in that capacity for the last eight years. Being an elementary school principal was very rewarding and each of those years are filled with fond memories. I always knew in my heart that I would one day return to the halls of middle school and I am excited to get this year rolling. Here at Brannan we are working hard to integrate the Common Core Standards to create an innovative and challenging program for all students, and are happy that you will be joining us in that endeavor.
As we shift our thinking and resources to comply with the demands of the Common Core, we are determined to leave the confining hands of textbook driven instruction and are poised to develop our own student centered, well balanced curriculum for all students. This includes math, language arts, social studies, and science. As always, elective classes and an outstanding physical education program are vital components of what we provide at Sam Brannan middle School.
Whether you are a returning or new family at Brannan, please know that I look forward to having an opportunity to talk with everyone. I am a firm believer in the “team” approach in education, where support both at home and school encourages respect for a positive learning environment and success. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
