Meet the Teacher
Jeremy Hammond is a Sacramento native having grown up in the Orangevale/Granite Bay communities. Mr. Hammond attended CSUS where he studied Trumpet Performance under Gary Dilworth, and had numerous opportunities to perform in musicals, marching band, concert band, orchestra, and as principle trumpet in the wind ensemble. As a senior, Jeremy received special honors from the College of Arts and Letters, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from CSUS in 2005.
Upon graduation Mr. Hammond was immediately accepted as a Sacramento City Unified School District intern and placed at Sam Brannan Middle School, located in the South Land Park community of Sacramento. Since his start at Sam Brannan Middle School in 2005, Mr. Hammond has tripled the size of the music program, and created award winning ensembles consisting of a competitive drum line, jazz band, as well as beginning band and advanced band.
In 2013 Mr. Hammond took over as Band Director at John F. Kennedy High School, in addition to his responsibilities at Sam Brannan, and is currently the Band Director for the Sacramento Youth Band Concert Band/Marching Band.
